According to Inrad, the stock 500hz filter in the 8.215 i.f. followed by the 
stock ssb filter in the 455khz i.f. results in 610hz @ -6dB and 1080hz @ 
-60dB

A call to George at Inrad might get you some expert advice on adding 
filters.  Also, ask for their 5 page newsletter on the FT-1000MP filters and 
mods.  While you're at it, you might ask about the AGC mod.  My limited 
understanding is that it only affects the fast AGC release.
