[1000mp] update on RFI

Hello all,

After a couple of weeks I finally got rid of the RFI on my 1000MP.
After some extensive testing and comparing, I have to conclude that :

1) My RF grounding system is now ok.
2) I dicovered a groundloop between the MP and the SP-8 ( see below)
3) the Yaesu FT1000MP is far more sensitive to RFI than Kenwood rigs.

I don't like to comment on this reflector with bad things about this
fantastic rig.
I really was down when the RFI occured, never experienced this while having
more than 7 Kenwood radio's.
I could use different mikes, setups, cables, audio stuff (external
equalising, mixing) no problems.

All started when I got the 1999 MP a few months ago. First, I used the
handmic, I discovered no problem.
After I started using my other stuff all went wrong, big RFI problems.

I thank everyone for all suggestions made, but nothing helped. To be shure
I wasn't the rig itself, another two belgian hams where so kind to visit me
with their mp's to compare, all the same. This proofed me the MP had the
RFI sensivity problem, and some people had their Icoms and Kenwoods here,
nothing wrong.

But I wanted my FT1000MP to work so much, I felt in love with the good
performace, great dynamic receiver, filter possibilities, in a few words, I
preferred working with this one.

Last weekend, A fellow ham and friend came over and brought a Heil headset
PRO with a model 5 element insert installed, with the yaesu adapter cable.

When I tried this out, the RFI was gone, all the way, except for one thing,
when using the SP-8 phones connector to plug in the headphones. When you do
this, a groundloop seems to pick up some RFI still, but it was minor to what
I experienced before.

So, finally I work with my MP after some terrible weeks of getting rid of
mister Murphy. I now use the heil pro and use the phones connector on the
rig itselfs, works great.

I use my other stuff on the Kenwood 570 and there it does the job without
RFI ...
Also the MD100 deskmic picked up RFI on all three MP's ...
My only way to go is the Heil PRO set using the rig itself for both
connections.

I like to thank this list and others for all help and comments.
It can be a strange story, but I like to chair this, even it sounds less
nice than the overwelming reports I read most of the time.
I'm still convinced this is a wonderfull transceiver in the topclass
ranking.
