Over my period of MP ownership, I have noted several operational
peculiarities that appear to be fairly widely known, and several that may be
peculiar to this radio. Among the common ones are the Celebrated Jumping RIT
(when the knob is turned quickly) and the hiccup with the most CW position
of the DSP NB. Also noted by myself and others has been apparent relay
cutout problems in the front end.
A week ago, in the RTTY contest, another surfaced here.
I use an ATU after my amplifier. To simplify tuning on the associated bands,
I switched from RTTY mode to CW, tuned, then returned to RTTY. Frequently,
pushing the RTTY mode button to return to RTTY resulted in either a hung
condition (in the radio) with oscillating noise from the audio---very much
like the aforementioned DSP
glitch--or in dead audio altogether. The radio would then have to be
power-cycled. This
acts like a firmware glitch.
Has anyone else noted this condition?
Garry, NI6T
