[1000mp] remove top or bottom cover for filters on Mark V?

John,

You're right, it's not necessary to remove both covers. Using commonly
available kitchen utensils like a crawbar, torch and jackhammer one can
take just one cover off. When you do, be sure to send your application to
Yaesu; they will send you a "I managed to open my MP" t-shirt. There used
to be one for "and I put them back together without scratching it" but
they took it off the market for lack of demand.

Ok so I thought like you and actually opened just the bottom cover so it's

doable. If you bought all of the filters, however, you must flip the radio

and take off at least one small section of the top cover to install the
sub-receiver CW filter.

BTW, did you buy the stock Yaesu filters or the Inrad? Why?

Cheers,
Julio

I'm looking at the directions in the manual for adding filters (5 on the
way).
And I'm in a bit of disbelief that both top and bottom covers must be
removed
for every filter. Can someone clarify?

Thanks!
