[1000mp] FSK RTTY using 1000mp Mark V

I'd be interested in a response to this as well.  What I do
is adjust the mic gain in concert with RF Power out to just
barely budge the bar on the ALC meter.  I also have the
compression and processing controls either off or minimized.
I had my first ever RTTY QSOs over the weekend with some
contesters.  No problems with this approach for me....but is
there a better way?

I'm trying to use FSK RTTY on my FT-1000 Mark V.  Everything
seems to work except when I assert PTT, the ALC meter goes
off scale and the output is distorted.

I can't find any control for the ALC in the RTTY FSK mode. 
I'm
missing something, or my radio is broken.

Can someone help?
