Don't have electric fence noise in downtown Toronto, but what works on
pulse type noises when the NB gives you problems with strong signals is
to use the NR A-B-C-D settings instead, plus narrow filters and/or width
and shift to get the stuff out of the passband.  In contests and lower
bands, usually run with IPO set as you don't need the extra gain anyway.

Unfortunately, when you have noise that needs a NB setting either A or B
above 10, then loud signals will often be a problem.  Of course, every
situation and operator's ears are different....  GL
