[1000mp] Adjusting the MP's RF output/speech processor settings

Yes, I had tried the ALC, but that appeared ineffective - perhaps had I
taken the time to adjust it...
However, while a well-adjusted ALC might keep the drive at or near some
level, it might only serve to mask the
fact that the radio's output seems to skyrocket with a touch of the RF
output knob.
