[1000mp] dumb transverter question

Listers:  I have a FT1000MP Mk V, and I am told that there is a 
transverter that Yaesu makes that goes with the Mk V to provide additional 
higher frequencies (have you figured out that I don't work VHF or UHF :) 
).

My buddy has a straight FT 1000 MP and he was told that the Mk V 
transverter won't work with a regular 1000 MP.

Anybody know the answer to this one?
