Has anyone on this list used the internal modem/soundcard interface of the
Timewave DSP599zx?

The newest version, 5.1, has the ability not only to operate as a RTTY modem
and PSK and SSTV, in conjuction with a soundcard. I have not gotten help
from Timewave. I used this 599 with my TS-570D(G), and it worked far better
than the internal DSP unit. However, I find that although at times the DSP
unit is better than the internal DSP, but in general, the Mark V's internal
DSP is as good and much more convenient. SO..........I'm looking for
another use for this $400.00 accessory. That is my main interest in using
it for RTTY etc.

Here is what I did:

I connected the DSP Line A OUT to the "Patch" plug on the back of my radio.
The Yaesu manual states "This input jack accepts transmitter
audio - either AFSK or voice - for transmission. This line is mixed with
the microphone audio input line. . . impedance is 500 to 600 Ohms."

I connected the PTT OUT A to the PTT jack on the back of the radio. The
Yaesu manual states that "this input jack may be used to provide manual
transmitter activation using a footswitch or other switching device. The
same line is available at the Packet and RTTY jacks for TNC control. . . .
Open circuit voltage is +13.5 VDC, and closed circuit current is 1.5 mA."

I took the soundcard connections and serial port directly from my rigblaster
(which works fine). Tom W6EIJ
