Yes, did a system reset, COMTSR1 is set to -4800 -N82, did swap in a different cable, also tried a second PC.  Using CT9.82.   It worked for 36 hours of the contest.  Suspect RFI from a flakey 160m antenna was the culprit.

Will try another software program next.   In the end I still think I''m gonna need to replace a part or two, or send it back to Yaesu.    Thanks for all of the suggestions so far though!
