[1000mp] Mark V - VRT Sub-display Problem - Anybody Else Seen This?

I sent my Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V back to Yaesu for the 3rd time last month.
The first time was to repair a dead main display (due to failure of the
thermal fuse).  The second time was to again repair the dead main display
(due to another thermal fuse failure).

This third time is to repair the wierd operation of the VRT Sub-display.
This wierd operation started immediately after I received the rig back after
that 2nd repair.  When I turn on VRT, this sub-display is correct
(consisting of a a vertical line pointer & horizontal ruler of tick marks).
However, once I start to turn the VRT knob, then the ruler disappears and
the sub-display only shows the vertical line pointer.  This disappearing VRT
sub-display ruler occurs on 20 meters and other bands.

The Yaesu technician claims there is nothing wrong with the VRT Sub-display.
I keep telling him to go back and look at it again.  Has anybody else seen
this problem?

My rig is also showing another problem:  the main display takes a varying
amount of seconds to come up.  Since I've already suffered through 2 main
display failures, this varying up time is unsettling.
