Hi Gary,
My MkV QSK is quite good. Some subtle clicks but nothing objectionable. It also depends on the filter selection. With
two 1800Hz INRADS selected in NOR there are virtually no clicks. Using a 400 Hz INRAD with the stock 500 Hz filter in
NAR 1 produces some clicks. Using two 500Hz filters for NAR 1 is significantly less clicky but I still prefer the 400
Hz INRAD. I have two 250 Hz INRADS in NAR 2 and that filter selection is less clicky than NAR 1 with the 400 Hz filter.
If the band is very noisy...S5 or above...I find the QSK caused clicks and AGC pumping can be worse. Using the IPO or
attenuator helps significantly.
All that was with 7-4 set at 0. I set it at 1 just for the purpose of keying my amp. In the past, I experimented with
changing 7-4 and found no difference in QSK clicks.
