It has also been a while since this issue has come up. Some ran into
difficulties getting the scanning ring on the base mike to work. It seemed
to come down to the way the cables are connected .....

Subject: MD-100 mike scanning control - Works Ok Here
Hello Peter and Len,
My MD-100 desktop mike scanning ring works ok on my FT1000-MP. Of course the
short cable coming out of the mike base that cannot be removed is connected
to the back of the mike, and the provided cable that came with the mike
plugs into the center rear of the mike base (phone/dbase10 style network
connector) and then plugs into the radio mike jack. The so called serial
number on the base is 7H3. The radio manufacturing date is first quarter of
1997.
Beings Peter is saying that scanning works with the hand mike, I would
conclude that the radio is fine, but would suspect the desk mike internal
wiring, or the cable. Especially check the dbase-t style connector that
plugs in the rear center of the mike base. Any defective connections do to
bent prongs or corroded contacts on the cable or mike base could also be the
problem.
Len, I am not to far from you if you wish me to stop in with my mike to run
a test with you.......you and I worked out various packet issues years ago.
