Joe, I found that to "enter" the memory mode I had to push the MEM/ CH know
rather quickly on my MP Mark V to get the memory channel display to display
properly. On my MP just pushing the MEM/VFO CH knob seems to work fine.

Does the thin line around the Channel Number come on in the display when you
push the MEM/VFO CH knob? My standard MP works as follows:

Push in the MEM/VFO CH knob. -- The thin line around the CH number will
illuminate, the channel number will also illuminate. example 1-01 for group 1
channel 1.

Push and hold for maybe 2 seconds the A > M button. The MP will beep twice
and the frequency in VFO A is transferred to the indicated memory channel.
Channel 01 in the example. Note that VFO B does not change and continues to
indicate what ever Freq you had there to start.

When I push the A>M button the Channel Number also will sequence to the next
memory channel number. Channel 02 in the example.

If I turn the MEM/VFO CH knob to the next channel number, the channel number
will change in the display. And, VFO B will momentarily display what ever
frequency is currently memorized in the selected channel. VFO B then returns
to the frequency that was there to start with. While VFO B momentarily
displays the memory channel frequency, MCK flashes under the memory channel
number on the display.

Note it is slightly different on the Mark V. I assume you are working with a
standard MP.

Does this help any?
