[1000mp] MP receive problem

Just an additional data point.

I noticed symptoms similar to those reported under this heading while
operating last year. However, I was using a TS-870 and operating in
Minnesota rather than Idaho at the time. I seriously doubt that the
geography was responsible for the symptom.

The same low rx signal levels as reported were observed when switching from
transmit to receive on SSB. I do not recall observing the effect when
operating CW. As reported, closing and then releasing the microphone switch
(PTT on, then off) restored the rx signal level to the expected level. There
seemed to be no effect noticed by those receiving the transmitted signal
which led me to assume that the problem was somewhere in the RX signal path
and not in the TX signal path.

The relays used in both radios (TS-870 & FT1000MP) are similar -- not
necessarily identical. The problem was sufficiently intermittent that I did
not search for the absolute cause and settled for relieving the symptoms.
Eventually I replaced the radio with an FT1000MP.
