George,

I would be interested to learn what you hear on this, since I am having the
exact same problem on 12 meters -- but with my MP, not with my Mark V.

Subject: [1000mp] Tuner symptoms - Mark-V

Noticed that the tuner wait light stayed on when on the low end of 17m and
wouldn't go away regardless of what I tried. Holding down the tuner button
only
caused a "hang" at high SWR and low power. So used K6SE's memory program to
unload memories, and did a memory reset, and could reload the memories. All
OK.
Now a week or two later, same thing to low end of 20m, regardless of whether
antenna or dummy load used. Same "cure."
In each case this happened after I did something unusual - the first time I
had
powered off at the power supply rather than doing the rig first several
times
(don't laugh, seen computers with stranger memory bit picks and sequencing
problems). The second time I had been testing a rig on 6m with the feedline
lying over the Mark-V - no grounds, etc. I add this to avoid jumping to the
obvious conclusion to rip open the rig and look for bad solder joints in the
17/20m tuner section. Wanted some additional brain power and thought before
starting with the 22 screws. Your thoughts appreciated. tnx and 73,
George

PS to Earl - K6SE - great program, saves some work - tnx! FYI - the Mark-V
has
different easy set parameters than MP that don't seem to get picked up by
the
program - specifically when you set up packet through the back jack on USB.
Then
again, the rig doesn't display the USB light either, so maybe you can't read
it!
