I haven't looked at the MKV, but I have other rigs. I'm pretty sure
the problem is the same.
Most wide-range synthesizers have to switch VCO's because the
frequency range is too wide for a single VCO. When you reach a
certain frequency, you hear a pop or click as the synthesizer changes
to a VCO covering the new range.
In my IC 751A I do not hear it when I move the clarifier across that
range because does not move the VCO. My guess would be Yaesu is the
same.
I've never bothered to look at the problem in any rig past my 751A,
because I care less about a quick little click or pop that occurs
when tuning past some odd frequency.
By the way, watch that stuff when working split. Some rigs generate
over-the-air clicks when you receive in one VCO range and transmit in
another. The 751A can do that, if transmit delay time is not long
enough for the VCO to settle. I that consider a major design
problem, but not the receive click when tuning.73, Tom W8JI
