Well done Garry.
I concur. I have one of the first 5 FT1000MP's released in the US
since we were an international distributor for all the major ham lines
including Yaesu. I think the first few MP's were pretty much hand
managed for optimum "show" since mine does not have many of the more
common complaints. OTOH, I have my FT1000D sitting next to it and it is
my rig of choice. Also have a TS-950SDX/SM230 etc. which really was a
great radio from Kenwood, but the TS940/TS950's had already spoiled
their market. Had an ICOM 775DSP which was an awful CW rig, not too bad
for SSB. I use a Kenwood TS-570SG at my Colorado QTH in they summer
which is a very good rig for the $$$. DSP actually works quite well.
Of the lot, I still think the FT1000D is the pick of the lot. I used an
outboard DSP filter while in Europe mostly because of the high noise
levels there.
I hope Chip reads your Email. He and I have had similar discussions
over the years of the FT1000MP's life.
