While we are on the topic of the AM mode, I would like to point out how well
received the FT-1000MP is by the AM crowd. Many "true am'ers" have a dislike
for 'rice boxes'.... and many times with good reason. The AM quality in most
of them just don't measure up to the AM modulation quality of many tube AM
transmitters. Some of the early/mid designed solid state rigs only produced
modulation on one sideband portion of the AM signal, and just about all had
poor sounding AM transmitted audio modulation.

However I was pleasantly surprised to find that when correctly adjusted, the
AM transmitting of the MP is superb and surprised most of them. Many agreed
it sounded as good as any tube rig.... some of them were very reluctant to
admit that I might add .... hi hi

As much as I enjoy the T-4XC/R-4C in AM, I also very much enjoy using the MP
in this mode too. Give it a try on the AM sections of the band in your area
and see what I mean.
