I agree with Tom 100%. Tune 80 SSB some evening, and just listen to that
hi-fi wide band SSB noise. Tom is correct about the design limits of most of
today's power supplies. They design these things to perform at a certain
level, and the days of conservative engineering and "headroom" are over.
They watch the pennies when designing these things far too often.
