[1000mp] New Mark V

I just ordered a new Mark V.  Serial number shows a March 2001 manufacture
date.
I'm surprised that the stock is a year old.  I was told that this unit was
just received
from Yaesu a few weeks ago.  Has anyone else purchased one recently.  I'm
curious
as to what the serial number is.  I phoned around and any Mark V's  in stock
showed
a first quarter of 2001 manufacture date.

I was tempted to go with the new Mark V Field, but because I may want to add
the
FTV-1000 for 6 meters someday, I decided to go with the external FP-29
version.  The
FP-29 needs to be purchased separately in order to use the FTV-1000 with
either the
MP or Field.  The FP-29 sells for around $500.00 by itself.  Also the Field
is only 25W
in Class A.
