Thanks for the information provided by K3AOT, W2CS, K3GT, KB8ELK, N4ZR,
NI6T, G4BJM, W3IZ, AA4NU, W7OT, ON4MA, W5ZR, F5MMX, EI7BA, VE7TLL, and a
couple of others.
All suggestions were really good and there are many excellent approaches
including a couple that are still under development.
I have tentatively settled on a band decoder board by W9XT for $18.95 that I
can build my antenna relay system around. Guy also has one under
development which I like due to the extensive isolation of the antenna
control from the transceiver.
I felt that I had to construct the relay boxes due to the unusual
requirement to switch the 5 band quad loops while isolating the coax inner
and outer conductor, using a 1/4 wave line to short the unused loops and
then transform the impedance to 50 ohms, while the dipoles and eventually
verticals are widely separated from the other antennas requiring 3 sets of
remote relay boxes.
Again thanks for all of the information provided for the Band Selector for
the FT1000MP.
I forgot to ask which approach works best on a hilltop location when
lightning is striking all around!
