Guess the extra antenna input on the back will do a nice job. But..... I =B4=

not sure whether this input is switched off during transmission. I cannot
make this out when I read the manual.
Probably one you knows."
Arie, as I read my manual (page 35 Selecting Antennas), I
see that the RX antenna input is after the T/R relay and the RX input
is NOT switched off during transmission. Thus you should probably use
some sort of protection to prevent damage to the RX in case RF comes
back in while you are transmitting. You should probably wire up an=20
external relay box, or use a fused input (light bulb) or both.
However, I have used my MP for 5 years on 160 with no input
protection and no problems. Perhaps I have just been lucky so I would
not recommend you do what I did. I also never had a problem with my
previous TS-930S. I normally feed my Beverages through a preamp before=20
the RX input and have never had a problem with damage to the preamp=20
either. Again, maybe I am just lucky so the safest thing is to either
disconnect the RX input with a relay or fuse it.
To answer your other question about gain on 160, you are=20
technically correct. If you can hear band noise, you do not need the
extra gain provided by Flat in Menu 8-4. However I like to equalize
signals on my RX antenna to what they are on my TX antenna so I
can give proper strength reports. That's why I like the extra gain
on 80/160 provided by choosing Flat instead of Tuned. If I have=20
occasional problems with intermod products caused by stong signals,=20
I can always use the attenuator.
