[1000mp] FT1000D

Greetings folks & hope this is not off topic!
My friend Baz, ZL1DD, is trialling a used (approx 1990) FT1000D.
The sub Rx has no narrow filter fitted & he cannot get the sub Rx to work
when the Main Rx is on Narrow CW.
Can anybody please put him right on this please?
Also anybody knowing of any mods to reduce tuning rate and/or any particular
advice on pros & cons of buying a used FT1000D would be much appreciated.
