Hi,

I have a Proset 4 and I use mainly the same settings as you do (but I run
the 4-4 on "off"). I have no problems driving the MP to full output. I even
use the Mic Gain at 9 o'clock and the proc at 10-11 o'clock. I have found
that the processor setting is band sensitive. Therefore you have you adjust
it when you change bands. The modulation
quality seems to be ok because I get from time to time "unasked" comments
abt. the "good" modulation. You have to be careful not to use too much
processor. Otherwise it will overdrive your modulation. I use abt. 5-10 dB
compression.

One thing is that I am using a headset. Maybe you have to go to very close
to the Mic to drive it to full output. As far as IIRC something like that
was mentioned in the "manual". I am also using a hand-mic with a HC-4
cartridge. I replaced the original cartridge in a kenwood hand-microphone.
When I am using this mic (with a FT 100) I also have to go very close to
the microphone. According to reports the modulation is not overdriven.

Hope that helps.
