So what about the 5 kHz BDR and IMDDR. The most glaring omission in the QST review is that there is no mention of the
Field's most significant technological advancement, the new larger keyer speed control knob. A number of calls to Yaesu
America and much begging and cajoling did not yield a part number so I could order one for my MkV; however, as
consolation, they sent me a brochure for the Field and guess what, on the bottom right of the sixth page of the brochure
there is a close-up picture of the keyer knob with the caption, "New, larger Keyer Speed control allows easy adjustment
of sending speed." Perhaps QST should stop the presses again and change the "Bottom Line" summary to read "Maintaining
the performance standard set by the MARK-V, the field replaces the original FT-1000MP in the Yaesu product line and
swaps 100W for portability, cost savings and a larger Keyer speed knob."
