Boy but I must be a real mug!
I have read all this stuff about viruses bypassing NAV and screwing up
computers with the klez virus and other things. OK I must be really
gullible. I took the advice offered here and visited the Trend Micro site
to take advantage of the on-line virus check just in case I had something
nasty that had sneaked by NAV.
The on-line check completed without incident and congratulated me for being
virus free! Pah!
Having run this on-line check my machine is now completely screwed! None of
my desktop icons work any longer as their properties have all been altered
to show a path back to themselves. If I bring up a DOS window I can see
that my Program directory is no longer there and who knows what else has
gone.
My congratulations to which ever asshole dreamt this one up. It worked....my
machine is really screwed. I now have a big recovery exercise to undergo.
My advice to everyone is to ignore the good advice given on reflectors re
viruses!
