Hey Bill,

looks like you might want one of the MP-1000's that don't have the built in
supply. they are
cheaper that way. Still a pretty large radio for a mobile unless you drive
an Escalade.

Bought my 1000 mp used after seeing a bunch of them in action at W3PP. Was
looking for
a rig, was already familiar with the 1000mp so that was the natural choice.
There is a
definite learning curve to the 1000mp. Lots of bells and whistles I have
yet to use. Plan to
spend some serious time in the manual. After I got it I called W3PP and
said hey, too many
defaults and not enough time to figure out how I like em all set.. Just
read me your settings
so I can get started and then I will change the ones that seem "not right"
to me.

Got the ET3 on 160 !!! No small feat there. I came close to buying that
mobile version of the
1000 mp because I could get an excellent price on it. Then another one came
along that I
knew was one owner, never mobiled and used sparingly used. The guy had two
of em and
his xyl said one of em had to go. In order to help out his wife, i grabbed
the least used one.
Not a scratch on it, still in its plastic wrap and in the box. Supposedly
only out of the box to
make sure it worked and then put aside. I don't find the radio in general
or the two rx
system to be "intuitive" gotta read the manual to understand whats
happening.

Had to buy some cw filters but what a great radio. They are becoming more
and more
common on the used market as the guys with the big bux move on the their
next new toy.

Learn something new every day on the reflector.
