I called Yaesu parts and tried to get the part number for the MkV Field
keyer speed knob so I could order a few.  They
told me that the service manual for the Field isn't out yet so they couldn't
figure out the part number and suggested
that I call back in a couple of months. Glad I don't have Field in need of
service.

The knob might not be unique to the Field and if somebody could identify the
part number we could probably order them
from Yaesu.  The knob is like the Sub RX AF gain control but with a white
line down the side instead of a wing.

You say you don't like the small keyer speed knob on the MPs and that the MP
designers must all be phone ops?  Try the
FT100.  Keyer speed is a menu setting with no fast or key combination access
and there is no Spot function.
