On July 1, my 4 month old Mark V went dead while transmitting SSB at about
100 watts peak (I should have stayed on CW). After reading all the horror
stories about poor Yaesu repair, I decided to ship the radio back to HRO
Atlanta on July 3 and ask them to deal with Yaesu. I have always received
very good support from HRO Atl. It arrived at HRO on Friday, July 5 and was
shipped to Yaesu the same day. It arrived at Yaesu on the 10th, three
business days later. HRO called me twice to advise me of the progress.
Five business days later, on July 17 th, I received my repaired Mk V via
Next Day Air shipment direct from Yaesu. The repair required replacement of
the two high power FETs. The entire process, including shipping, from "shack
to shack" took ten business days.
Although the failure was disappointing, I consider this to be EXCELLENT
service/support from HRO Atlanta and Yaesu. I give a LOT of the credit to
Mark and Smitty HRO.
