Duncan,
The Entegra 2U4S is a USB-to-RS232 adapter. I previously had an ISA
8-serial port adapter that I couldn't use with my new PCI only bus computer.
The new computer only had one RS-232 port, so I needed to find a way of
connecting three radios and a rotor control. The first option I tried was
the USB adapter, and the only reason I picked the one I did was because it
had 4 RS232 ports and gave me two more USB ports (which I am not using). I
assume the 9-pin male-female serial cable carries all 9 lines through the
cable, but I have never tested the cables. The serial ports can be set from
the regular Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager-Ports Screen for
the default serial settings, and seem to work with the changes made by the
logging program for speed, etc.

On second thoughts may it is me being wrong :-(
I assumed this was a computer but it may be a converter. If it is you
sound like you did get lucky :-))
A post some months ago, which I found after getting the Targus
converter, said:

It might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm really
quite busy.
