I know you'll get lots of replies - most probably more useful than
mine. but - - -

I have gone through many firewalls (not the Taurus however) but they
couldn't be too much different from each other.

These include Jaguars, MBZ (current car), and other American cars,
generally GM-types. and have experienced no trouble - either in doing
the job or in re-selling the car later. If you do it, be sure the
opening is large enough and with a good rubber grommet installed so
the heavy gauge wire won't be pinched. Some cars have other lines
already going thru the firewall and sometimes there is enough room to
accommodate another one. Secure the cable on both sides of the
firewall to reduce friction of course. You should not have any huge
problem, but again I haven't seen the newer generation cars.

You might also look underneath. Some cars have space to snake the
cable down and up into the compartment, but this is not likely in the
newer cars.

As to resale, that should be no problem. It won't even be seen in
most cases. I recall when I got a new MBZ a few years ago, I wanted
to place a 2-M whip in the middle of the trunk! On a New Car yet! I
took the car to a auto shop to discuss it with the tech. there and I
asked him how much it might cost me to have the hole patched and body
repainted if/when I took the antenna off to sell my car. His answer:
Cost: about $50 - 75! I hurried home, drilled the hole and in a few
years, Iremoved the antenna, had it patched so one couldn't even tell
that it had been drilled - and sold the car.
