This could be an advantage. At 100W (assuming you have a 100W-output
transmitter) your rig is operating at optimum efficiency and signal
quality.

Which could give you a dirtier signal. Read some of the archives of
this list regarding signal quality at lower power levels. You'll find
that the signal quality of the 1000MP can be much worse at lower
power levels.
If an amp takes over 100w of drive to reach 1.5KW, and perhaps only
reaches 1300w at 100w of drive, is that such a bad thing? The
difference in output power from the amp is very small in terms of dB
at the receiving station.
