Dear Lou:
    A BIG gun contester told me that he has a strong preference for the
AL-1200 with an added outside fan.  He says that the amp is almost
indestructible.  Unlike the Alpha 99, which I have and use, the AL-1200
is able to cope with VSWR above 1.6.  I did not ask if the amp was also
being used on CW.
    The person who told me about preferring AL-1200 is as knowledgeable
as amateur radio people get.  However, if you are only interested in
light duty and do not think that you will use RTTY, then most of the
amplifiers will be satisfactory.  Let us all know what you end up
