Hello:
Recently, I posted a message asking if anyone had information on boosting
the low 28MHz drive out of the xvtr port of the FT-1000MP before it went to
the xvtr input. Several of you replied that Down East Microwave made a
small amp & several of you asked me to post the solution I found on the
reflector since you also were experiencing this situation.
The FT-1000MP manual states that the max xvtr port level is -6dBm but I was
measuring abt -20dBm max on my spectrum analyzer. The ARRL expanded test
report on the 1000MP measured -23dBm to
-17dBm per band.
I just called Steve at DEM today. He has a board kit available using a MAR
6 MMIC & it's listed in their catalog under accessories as a MMICK-6. He
said it provides abt 19 to 20dB of gain. The PC board kit is $10. A wired
& tested amp is $35 which is built in a shielded enclosure with BNC
connectors & a feedthru for +12VDC which he recommended be applied only
during xmit. I just ordered the wired & tested amp & won't hv it for abt 2
weeks but I presume it will nicely solve the problem.
Hope this helps.
