Hi Pete,

I'm not gifted technically so it is with great trepidation that I attempt
any "surgery" on my radios. My attempt at replacing the MAX232WCE SMT chip
was a disaster, but I have successfully replaced other things and diagnosed
other problems - often with the invaluable help of others on this reflector.

As far as the key clix issue (horrendous this weekend!) and other stuff,
Yaesu is still in denial so I can't offer any solutions. Key clix aside
(which W8JI and others have addressed) maybe some of the more technically
savvy can offer solutions in a "how to" format for the rest of us? All I
know is that it is better NOT to have to rely on Yaesu whenever possible -
and of course - that wonderful company called UPS that manages to make all
packages sent akin to "running the gauntlet".
