misleading, and actually wrong in the case of the MP."

I think I know where the misunderstanding is now. The lab reports Barry
refers to are tests made at 20 kHz spacing which, as W8JI pointed out,
are virtually useless figures. The table I posted contained the figures
for tests made at 5kHz spacing, which are more meaningful figures.

"As soon as the spacing is greater than 10Khz, the 1000MP beats the K2.
At a spacing of 20Khz, the 1000MP delivers almost 20dB better BDR than
the K2 and 15dB better than the Omni "

Here are the actual ARRL lab figures for their 20 kHz spacing tests on
the K2, 1000MP and Omni 6+ (K2 and 1000MP preamp off/on figures are
shown):

 Rig IMDDR3 BDR
  K2 97/98 136/128
1000MP 97/94 142/137
  6+ 97 123

It appears that the 1000MP fares better than the K2 only in the BDS
category at 20 kHz spacing. Remember, however, that the 5 kHz spacing
BDS figures for the K2, 1000MP, and 6+ are 126, 111, and 119 respectively
(with preamp off).

Other interesting ARRL figures are (MDS is for preamp off/on and phase
noise figures are at +4/+10 kHz):

  Rig MDS Phase Noise
   K2 -131/-138 -120/-126
1000MP -128/-135 -118/-125
   6+ -133 -117/-123
