My late 1995 MP is v1.26 firmware and it works as the manual says (the
Rx LED mutes the sub-RX when presssed - it also flashes).  So it's not a
firmware problem.  

Does the sub-RX work at all when you press dual?  Maybe it's turned off
in the menus?  I don't have my MP at hand to check if that stops the Rx
LED working as the manual says, but it's something to check.  Other than
that, maybe the switch behind it has got damaged (in which case, good
luck with stripping the front off the rig to fix it!).
