Barry,

What you recorded sounds like some other problem than the usual key click problem.  I've heard many MPs on the air and
none ever sounded like that.  It sounds more like an AGC problem in the RX or a ALC problem in the TX, or maybe in the
amp if he was using one.  The normal keyclick problem due to fast rise and fill times causes excessive bandwidth, not
popping,  and really isn't heard when listening to the signal.  It is heard more plainly when tuned above or below the
signal far enough that it is outside of the bandpass of the selected filter.
