People frequently have trouble with ground loops introducing hum into 
high-impedance audio circuits.  Your station either uses truly exemplary 
grounding practices, or else you lucked out... an isolation transformer 
would have been playing it safe.

That being said, I don't see much need for a Rigblaster either -- the thing 
they really sell is the ability to connect directly to the microphone input 
on the front of the rig, for folks who are not comfortable on the back panel.
