Pete,

I've haven't had anyone get back to me regarding the Mark V, so I have no
idea whether or not it does (or even should) work.  I do know that the
command syntax and structure "seem" to be essentially the same for my FT-890
and my FT-100D, although I've never attempted to control them from TR.  I
may do so just to see what happens.

I wish I  had a Mark V available locally to run some tests, but none of the
locals appear to have jumped on the Mark V bandwagon.

The fact that neither methods work for you suggests that the Mark V is a
different animal.  Why not put out the question on the MP Reflector and see
what response you get.  Since I posted the original description on my
Website,  I've had 75-80 "hits" that I have to assume were guys looking for
the MP command stuff.  But no comments from anyone yet.

Wish I could help, but I've run out of ideas.
