Ken

I have owned one of the original MPs for some years and this year I brought
back from Dayton a new MkV Field to go alongside it in an SO2R set-up. I
have fitted IRC 400Hz and 1.8kHz filters in both I/Fs and everything works
perfectly. It maybe because it's the new baby, but I err in favour of the
Mk V Field when it comes to a choice for the run radio. It might also be
because the IRC filters have way better skirts than the Yaesu filters I have
in my earlier model.

The ARRL review does say the Dynamic range of the Field is significantly
poorer than the original MP but I have to say this hasn't been evident in
day to day contest use here.

I may be tempting providence when I say this and maybe I'm just one of the
lucky ones but....I've never had a reliability problem with any Yaesu radio
I have owned.

Good luck with your deliberations.
