The menu 9-9 selection is obviously to ensure that the radio's transmit
frequency range and output power comply with the country's amateur
regulations in which it is used.

All radios (MPs, Mk Vs, and Fields) that are shipped to the USA should
have menu item 9-9 set to "USA" (I'm not sure whether this limits a Mk
V's output to 100 watts on the 30-meter band).

The only other menu 9-9 setting I knowut is the "GEN" setting which
allows the radio to output full power on every frequency from 1500.00 kHz
to 29999.99 kHz.
