Well, the saga is over for the time being.
I sent the radio in for warranty repair in July, it was received at
Yaesu 7/12 (dead main rcvr and sub was functional on some bands). It
was assigned to a tech on 7/15. It was first looked at 7/24. On 7/25
it was determined that the radio was not repairable and a purchase
ticket was issued to the sales area. On 8/2 my new radio arrived at
Yaesu. On 8/6 my filters from the dead Mark V were installed in the new
radio. On 8/7 my new radio was overnighted from CA to IN. The new
radio arrived today.
It's a new radio for sure, s/n shows a February 2002 manufacture date.
I recieved all new paperwork with the radio....just like an off the
shelf unit. My filters are indeed installed and functional. I have a
new invoice showing that it was purchased on 7/31 along with new
warranty paperwork.
There is no explanation as to what the issue was with my original
radio. Just a new one on my doorstep today.
