I just got a call from Andy Ormonde at Yaesu who has my Mark 5 on the bench 
now.  He wanted to be sure he understood my clarifier problem (unexpected 
frequency jumps when turning), and is going to change out the control, 
along with a regulator, do a complete alignment, etc.  He was very 
forthcoming and helpful.

I think the moral is -- follow up on your radio's status.
