Gee, and I thought I came up with this idea by myself.
I use the ANC-4 EXACTLY the same way except I didn't think to use the
voltage from the MP to power it.
I also have a simple dipole as the noise antenna, and it's stapled to the
underside of my eves.
I can usually knock down an offending noise signal by at least 1 s unit and
usually more.
The reduction is dependant upon whether my beam is oriented the same of
almost the same as the dipole.

Found this article on the VA3CR website.
In cases where the MP gets overloaded with signals (this is in my case 160m
with a large antenna) it is easy to switch in an extra narrow bandfilter.
This use of the backside connectors of the MP was absolutely new to me!
In this article a ANC4 is switched in.
