For those of you with the expertise, knowledge, and background to understand the
issues surrounding and value of receiver/transmitter performance, my suggestion is that
you join together either by private email, or a new reflector, and develop a
comprehensive testing strategy.

Get together at a place like the Dayton Hamvention, where it is relatively easy
to gather together many radios and even test equipment. Apply your testing plan to
as many radios as you can get on the bench. Perform the tests at a
booth, or someplace where your work is out in the open, and can be watched by
anybody interested. Do the tests fairly and uniformly.

Gather your results, publish them on the Internet. No doubt you will open
many eyes.

This will be a valuable service to all amateurs, and will quite likely be the
best way to influence radio makers and organizations such as the ARRL.

Oh, and be prepared for some folks to criticize your work. You will be called misguided,
dumb, stupid, and incompetent. You will be accused of being bought off by some
group or another. Just ignore that noise and get on with your lives.
