[1000mp] Is this filter combination possible in a "stock" FT 1000 MP?

Christian:

Many of us have moved the 500 Hz 3rd IF mechanical filter to the
subreceiver, and substituted the 703-C 400 Hz Inrad in its slot. That way,
the main receiver benefits from the sharp skirts of the Inrad filter, while
the more relaxed response of the mechanical filter is considered useful for
the sub-receiver.

This view is based upon the idea that the sub-RX is most frequently used in
split pileups to locate the successful caller and to place your signal, and
that the more relaxed skirts of the 500 Hz mechanical filter are preferred
for that task.

The sharp Inrad 400 will make a huge difference in the CW performance of the
main RX for that bandwidth. I suspect that, excepting weak-signal 160m
operation, you will use that selection more often than you will both 250 Hz
filters. In fact, you may wish initially to purchase just the 3rd IF 250 Hz,
rather than both, and hold onto the cash.

Garry, NI6T
