Has anyone ever read anything but a rave review of any name
brand rig? Unfortunately they never bite that hand that
feeds them. An occasional peck at most. :-(
You really need to evaluate the rig yourself using the
published lab reports as a guideline for your shopping

|Fellow Yaesu owners:
|
| If you want to read an outstanding example
|of how to turn an ordinary
|radio into a winner see Rick Lindquist's review
|for the May issue of QST of
|the IC-746PRO. It is posted on the ARRL's web
|site. Transmit two-tone IMD
|is down only -25 dB and receive stats are middle
|of the road. Yet the
|IC-746PRO gets a rave review, mainly for its DSP
|implementation, which does
|not show up in the lab's stats but gives owners
|plenty to play with. If the
|ham radio community (represented by ARRL) is so
|uncritically receptive of
|new products that are no more than ordinary, I
|guess we get what we deserve.
