"I would appreciate any advice on filters for the Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V.
I work mostly SSB and enjoy dx'ing and I am leaning towards the Inrad
brand filters."
----------
Good choice. Inrad filters are better (have steeper skirts) than the
Yaesu filters. For CW, I recommend the Inrad 250 Hz filters for the main
receiver and the Inrad 400 Hz filter for the sub receiver.

"My Mark V has what I would call excessive I.F hiss. I have the 70Mhz
I.F Amplifier installed in the radio and it has helped some."
----------
The IF hiss is most noticeable when using narrow CW and the DSP is off.
The capacitor mod provided with the Inrad front end mod should be
installed, because it knocks down the hiss even more than the front end
mod.
